Dance and music from the peripheries is the theme of the next meeting of the cycle "Peripheral Centralities"

What do dance and music echo from the peripheries and what do they say about the city? This is the question that artists and researchers will seek to answer at the next meeting of the cycle "Peripheral Centralities," an achievement of the Olavo Setúbal Chair in Art, Culture and Science. Addressing music, the presenters will be KL Jay, Karol Conka and Claudio Miranda. Renata Prado, William Severo dos Santos, Lia Rodrigues and Rubens Oliveira will talk about dance. Dance critic Helena Katz and Brazilian literature professor Acauam Oliveira will also interact. The event will be held on March 25, from 5:00 pm.

Researchers discuss the structural causes of museum destruction episodes in Brazil

From the fire at the Museum of Modern Art (MAM) in Rio de Janeiro, in 1978, to the one that hit the National Museum in September 2018, several cultural institutions of the country have succumbed to major incidents. In order to reflect on the structural causes of this destruction scenario, IEA's Research Group "Fórum Permanente": Cultural System Between Public and Private, USP's Brasiliana Guita and José Mindlin Library, and the Department of Museology, Conservation and Restoration of the Federal University of Pelotas, will hold the meeting "Risk Management or Management at Risk? The Situation of Safeguarding the National Cultural and Artistic Heritage," on March 21, at 10:00 am.
