José Álvaro Moisés
He holds a degree in Social Sciences from the University of São Paulo (1970), a master's degree in Politics and Government from the University of Essex (1972) and a PhD in Political Science from the University of São Paulo (1978). Moisés was a Visiting Professor at Oxford University (1991-92), National Secretary for Cultural Support (1995-1998), National Secretary of Audiovisual Matters (1999-2002) - both of the Brazilian Ministry of Culture -, Coordinator of the Public Policy Management Course of USP's School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities (EACH) (2004-2006), and Scientific Coordinator of the Research Center of International Relations and Comparative Politics of USP (1992-1993). He is currently a member of UNESCO's International Social Science Council (ISSC), a retired professor of the Department of Political Science of USP's Faculty of Philosophy, Languages and Literature, and Human Sciences (FFLCH), and coordinator of IEA's Research Group Quality of Democracy. He dedicates his efforts to the studies of Democratic Theory and Political Behavior, having specialized in the subjects of political transition, democratization, political culture and civil society, citizenship and rights, democratic institutions and quality of democracy. He also has experience in the area of cultural policy management. Moisés is editor of the blog qualidadedademocracia.com.br and academic coordinator of CORRUPTECA, a project of the University of São Paulo and Uversita. He is a member of the editorial committee of the International Review of Sociology (IRS), the International Political Science Abstracts, the Latin American Journal of Public Opinion, and the WAPOR-Buenos Aires. |
