Architect, entrepreneur and multimedia director. He is the founder of Kompanhia do Centro da Terra (1989) and of the Teatro de Centro da Terra (2001). He directed Viagem ao Centro da Terra (1992), A Grande Viagem de Merlin (1995), O Santo e a Porca (2002), O Ilha do Tesouro (2005), O Kronoscópio (2007), Aguáh – o Espírito das Águas (2009), Teatrokê (2010), Biliri e o Pote Vazio(2011) and Ovono (2016). In 2005, he moved closer to the plastic arts and created three participatory installations with a great playful and sensorial impact: Sobre-viventes (2005), Um Corpo D’água (2006) and Pneuma (2007) In 2001, Karman won the Shell Special Achievement Award for the installation of Viagem ao Centro da Terra in Rio de Janeiro. In 2002, he won the APCA (Paulista Association of Art Critics) award for best young spectacle with the multimedia version of the classic O Santo e a Porca, by Ariano Suassuna. In 2005, he won the APCA for children's direction and the Coca-Cola award for best production for the show-installation O Ilha do Tesouro, an interactive experience between parents and children. |
