UrbanSus – Urban Atmosphere: Emissions, Impacts and Trends of Welfare in Cities
Air pollution and climate change impact the well-being of urban populations worldwide. Although air pollutants and greenhouse gases have different atmospheric lifetimes, both greatly impact the environment and health of populations, either directly (in the case of toxic air pollutants) or indirectly (greenhouse gases, via larger-scale climate change effects). Also, both share common emission sources, particularly in the urban environment, where differences in microenvironments can play a greater role in defining emission and exposure characteristics. Therefore, it is urgent to understand the relation between urban environments and the concentration of air pollutants and greenhouse gases.
